What is the Stock Transfer role?

The Stock Transfers job handles the changes in securities ownership, as part of the securities transfers/delivery department. This department may also be responsible for procedures related to dividends recording, sending certificates to be deposited with a Clearing Corporation, and transferring large amounts of securities quickly (through a rush or wire transfer) to help expedite the settlement of large dollar value trades.

What are the responsibilities of this role?

  • Safekeeping of securities, as well as looking after all dividends
  • Maintaining the firm’s inventory accounts
  • Arranging for collateral loans when the firm has to borrow, and arranging the payoff of loans when there is excess money
  • Working with transfer agents
  • Applying the firm’s policies and procedures
