Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) published Consultation Paper 33-404
Toronto, October 14, 2016 - In April the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) published Consultation Paper 33-404 - Proposals to Enhance the Obligations of Advisers, Dealers, and Representatives Toward Their Clients.
The consultation contained proposals regarding proficiency levels required of advisors and the use of titles and designations as well as a request for feedback on whether a regulatory best interest standard was appropriate. Comments were requested by September 30, 2016.

Canadians had the opportunity to provide comments in writing by September 30. 2016. Comments provided by The Canadian Securities Institute highlighted the importance of appropriate proficiency requirements and the credibility of designations used by professional financial advisors.
