Canadian Securities Institute introduces Certificate in Personal Banking
TORONTO, June 27, 2013 – The Canadian Securities Institute® (CSI), a Toronto-based global leader in financial services education and credentialing, launched a Certificate in Personal Banking. Aimed towards financial services professionals who are just starting out or looking to take their career to the next level, this new certificate program provides learners with a unique opportunity to develop the skills and expertise needed to succeed in today’s dynamic retail banking environment.
“CSI’s new Certificate in Personal Banking draws on industry best practices and client-focused service models, providing financial service professionals with a great foundation of skill and knowledge in investments, relationship management and lending,” says Rui Barreto, Program Development Expert, Canadian Securities Institute® (CSI). “Put simply, the new program delivers everything learners need to know to become highly competent, proficient and successful personal bankers.”
Providing a unique combination of knowledge in mutual funds licensing, investing, lending and mortgages, the new Certificate in Personal Banking is currently the only program of its kind in Canada’s financial education landscape that combines mutual funds licensing expertise with lending and relationship management skills. The program is designed for financial services professionals currently working in or aspiring to transition into retail banking roles.
All Certificate in Personal Banking courses are delivered through an interactive online learning environment, which includes eBook readings and activities supporting learners’ self-assessment. The certification exam required to complete the program is based on the content of the Personal Financial Services Advice and the Personal Lending and Mortgages courses.
The new certificate puts learners on the path towards completing the Personal Financial Planner (PFP)® designation. In addition, advisors who already have the Certificate in Financial Services Advice credential do not need to take the full Certificate in Personal Banking program. In fact, they are only required to complete the Personal Lending and Mortgages course and take the Certificate in Personal Banking Exam.
While the Certificate in Personal Banking is an invaluable tool for professionals in the early stages of their financial services career, senior practice leaders managing a team can also benefit from this program, leveraging its client management content to build and promote client service excellence within their workplace.
