Securities Association of China Chooses CSI to Deliver Best Practices Training Programs to China’s Largest Securities Firms

TORONTO , January 21, 2008 -  The Securities Association of China (SAC) has chosen Canadian Securities Institute® (CSI), Canada’s leading financial services institute, to deliver training programs to the growing financial services market in China. In 2008, the SAC and CSI plan to deliver multiple training programs to firms in the Chinese securities industry in both Canada and China.

CSI, a recognized global leader in financial services education, is endorsed and recognized by regulators around the world. CSI graduates are recognized as trusted experts and leaders in the financial industry, and work on financial services consulting and training projects with organizations worldwide including Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Having recognized a need for financial services education in markets such as China, CSI has already successfully trained professionals from many of China’s leading financial services companies including Guangfa Securities, Donghai Securities, Citic Securities, Bank of China, China Development Bank and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.  CSI’s partnership with the SAC offers Chinese securities firms a unique opportunity to learn about best practices from North American financial services professionals.

“Canada’s expertise in the financial services industry coupled with our high-level of proficiency standards can help accelerate the growth of capital markets globally. Our programs are designed to bring financial services best practices and operations to one of the world’s fastest growing financial services markets: China,” says Dr. Roberta Wilton, President and CEO of CSI.

In 2007, CSI delivered several programs to employees of China’s third largest securities firm, Guangfa Securities.  These included programs held in Guangzhou in September and November 2007 and an 8 week program held in Toronto in July and August of 2007. CSI’s Advanced Wealth Management Training Program delivered in Guangzhou covers the essential skills and best practices required by successful wealth managers, and has been specifically designed for Chinese investment professionals.

In a speech held during the November 2007 program, Guangfa’s President Dr. Li Jian Yong said “CSI is an important training partner for Guangfa to help grow its business in wealth management. CSI’s wealth management training acts as a unique way for Guangfa to differentiate our brokers.” To date, CSI has trained over 250 branch managers and brokers from Guangfa Securities in the area of wealth management.

The 8 week program, called the Canada-China Advanced Certificate Program for Securities Firm Operations and Management, was taught by professionals from many of Canada’s top financial services firms. The subjects covered ranged from comparisons of financial markets and investment options to advanced subjects in areas such as portfolio management, investment banking operations, risk management, hedge funds and strategic financial planning.  The program also included CSI’s flagship Canadian Securities Course, Canada’s benchmark in securities education, as well as panel discussions by industry experts, and visits to leading Canadian financial services companies.

CSI has a permanent office in Beijing and will be opening an office in Shanghai.
