CSI Global Education partners with China Futures Association
Shares best practices with Chinese compliance executives; expands relationships with Chinese financial services community
TORONTO, ON – JUNE 26, 2012 – The Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), a Toronto-based global leader in financial services education and credentialing, has signed an agreement with the China Futures Association (CFA) to provide training programs for Chinese compliance executives from China’s futures firms. The China Futures Association is China’s national self-regulatory organization for the futures industry that represents over 166 firms. As China’s securities market continues to grow, this milestone marks a new chapter in CSI’s decade-long experience of building innovative education partnerships with China’s financial services institutions.
“The partnership between CSI and the China Futures Association builds on CSI’s already very strong relationship with the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the Securities Association of China,” says Li Qiang, Vice-Chairman of the China Futures Association. “We are confident in CSI’s capabilities to deliver an excellent program for our executive members.”
CSI’s first program with the CFA will commence in August 2012 with a 20-day advanced compliance training program designed for Chief Compliance Officers from China’s futures firms. Hosted in Toronto, this will be the first in a series of four programs CSI and CFA plan to carry out over the next three years. As a result of CSI’s partnership with CFA, approximately 160 executives from China’s futures industry will benefit from the financial educator’s expertise in futures and compliance training.
“The sharing of best practices in the futures and derivatives industry between our two countries is one of the best ways for us to build lasting ties between our two capital markets,” says Anthony Sue-A-Quan, Vice President, Head of China Market for CSI. “The China Futures Association chose CSI and Canada over many other countries and partners, and it is a major milestone in our cooperation with China. The result will be increasing opportunities for cooperation between our Canadian financial institutions and their China counterparts.”
CSI’s initiative with CFA builds on its many successes in collaborative partnership relationships with China’s financial services community. Since 2005, CSI has been working with a number of China’s largest securities firms and banks, introducing them to best practices within Canada’s capital markets. In 2009, the company developed an advanced education program for Chinese Compliance executives as part of its partnership with the Securities Association of China (SAC). In 2010, CSI continued to grow its partnership with the SAC and delivered an M&A educational program to many of China’s leading investment bankers.
To date, CSI has trained over 2,000 of China’s securities professionals. Its training programs for Chinese financial services professionals address relevant and timely content and proven learning principles in the areas of wealth management, brokerage operations, investment and portfolio management, investment banking, M&A, risk management, and compliance, among others.
