Canadian Securities Institute® appoints new managing director
Marie Muldowney brings 25 yearsof senior management and financial education experience to new role.
Toronto, June 9, 2014. - The Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), a Toronto-based global leader in financial services education and credentialing, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Muldowney as Managing Director of Financial Services Training and Certification at Moody’s Analytics and head of Canadian Securities Institute, effective immediately.
With 25 years in senior management and financial services education, Ms. Muldowney brings a wealth of knowledge and integrated financial services experience to her new role. Most recently, she was the Senior Director of Product Development at the Canadian Securities Institute.
A respected leader in financial services training and credentialing, Ms. Muldowney has worked extensively with financial institutions and regulators to formulate certification programs and set proficiency standards that meet the complex and diverse needs of Canadian investors and financial services institutions, raising the bar in the industry’s professional standards. She has also been instrumental in guiding the development of new and online learning products at CSI, making her an ideal fit for the role.
Ms. Muldowney is President of the Canadian Securities Institute Research Foundation and a co-sponsor of Moody’s Canada Women’s Employee Resource Group, where she provides women with leadership opportunities in the organization.
Prior to joining CSI, Ms. Muldowney was the Executive Director of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (ICB) for six years where she oversaw the organization’s strategic direction and focused on delivering value to customers. Marie steered the ICB through its evolution to a self-sustaining organization and navigated ICB through its sale to the Thomson Corporation in 2003 and subsequently to CSI Global Education Inc. in 2007.
Ms. Muldowney holds a joint MBA degree from York University and Laval University, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.
She is active in the community and volunteers her time helping youth develop leadership skills.
