News & UpdatesCanadian Securities Institute® Partners with Mohawk College to Offer PFP® Designation TORONTO, JANUARY 29, 2016 – The Canadian Securities Institute® (CSI) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Mohawk College and approved their two-year Ontario College Diploma Program in Financial Services as an educational path leading to the Personal Financial Planner (PFP®) designation. The college’s Financial Services program prepares students to build a career in the financial services sector, including banking and insurance. Students who complete the program will now qualify to write the Applied Financial Planning (AFP) Certification exam, which is required to earn the Personal Financial Planner (PFP®) designation. Graduates from the Mohawk College program also earn the Certificate in Financial Services Advice (CFSA) offered through CSI. The CFSA is an industry recognized certificate program required for a number of roles in the financial services industry. “We’re very pleased to partner with such a highly respected Canadian college. The Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation is a great asset for students who want to build careers in the financial services industry.” says Marie Muldowney, Managing Director, CSI. “The PFP program provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to work in the industry and to give financial planning advice to clients. It also includes the licensing requirement to sell investment funds. It’s gratifying to know that, through our partnership with Mohawk College, we can help students interested in this field to achieve their career goals faster.” “This is a very big advantage for students in Mohawk’s Financial Services program,” says Mary Iannazzo, Professor and Program Coordinator for Mohawk’s Financial Services program. “Our graduates will become PFPs faster and that will give them a significant advantage over the competition.” The partnership between Mohawk College and CSI begins in 2016, but the offer to earn the PFP extends to include students who have been in the diploma program since September 2014.
