Booking Your Exam

--- IMPORTANT ---

Check "My CSI" Before Booking Your Final Exam

Please keep in mind that CSI courses are updated on a regular basis. If your course is updated during your course enrolment period, your final exam may also change to reflect the updated content. If your course has been updated, you will see a "Course Update" notification in "My CSI". The notification includes details on when your exam will change to reflect new content and instructions on how to access the new information needed to prepare for the new exam.

Before booking your final exam please log into "My CSI" to see if your course has been updated.

When Am I Eligible To Book An Exam?

Once you enrol in a course you are eligible to book exam sittings. You will not have to pay a fee for a first attempt at any paper-based exam written within Canada at a regular exam centre (international students, see below). However, you cannot exceed three attempts per exam for most courses. A fee is applicable for each additional exam sitting.

If you register for a classroom course you are not required to book your first exam sitting. The exam will take place on the last day of the course. Students in the PBP program will have only two attempts per exam for each course (exception, course 0030 has three attempts).

 International Students – Distance Courses

Your course registration does not cover the cost of exam sittings. You will need to pay an international exam sitting fee for exam centres outside of Canada. This fee applies to each exam you write at these centres and reflects the higher costs associated with holding exams in international locations.

What Is The Availability Of Exam Sittings?

All examination bookings are subject to availability. Exam sittings are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. We make every effort to accommodate your request and you will be contacted directly if alternate arrangements need to be made.

Are There Fees For Attempting The Exam?

There is no charge for your first attempt at a paper based exam within Canada, as long as it’s at a regular exam centre and you provide a minimum of 14 days notice before the date that you want to write the exam. (Please note that the date of the exam is not part of the 14 day notice period).

Exam sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited – so book early!

If you would like to write a computer-based exam, an additional $75 fee will be required.

You can book only one exam per exam session.

Are There Fees For Your Second & Third Attempts Of The Exam?

There is a subsequent exam attempt fee of $250 plus tax. This fee is in addition to any special, computer based or international fees that are required (if applicable). You must provide a minimum of 14 days notice (within Canada at a regular exam centre and 4 weeks notice for all other centres) before the date that you would like to write the exam. (Please note that the date of the exam is not part of the 14 day notice period).

Exam sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited – so book early!

You can book only one exam per exam session.

Can I Book An Examination With Less Than 14 Days' Notice?

You can book an exam with less than 14 days' notice, however you will be charged an express booking fee of $150, plus applicable taxes. You will have to pay this fee for any second or third attempts at an exam as well.

Express examination bookings are subject to availability and will be confirmed by our examination booking department.

Exams booked through the regular and express services are available only on the days and times appearing on the exam centre schedule.

Express exam booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Exam No-Show

Any student who does not show up at their exam and does not notify CSI must pay an administrative Exam No-Show fee.

Fees are only collected when a student rebooks.

How Do I Make An International Booking?

Students who enrol in any CSI course are required to pay an international exam sitting fee:

Quarterly Exam Sessions:

First exam attempt: $100 CDN (Students in a classroom course do not have to pay this fee if they write their exam on the last day of their classroom session.)

  • Subsequent quarterly exam attempts: $250 CDN
  • Late cancellation of an exam session (we require 14 days notice to cancel an exam session without penalty – the exam date is not included as part of the 14 day notice period) – the fees you paid are not refundable and are not transferable to your next session.

Students must apply by February 15 for the March quarterly session, May 15 for the June quarterly session, August 15 for the September quarterly session and November 10 for the December quarterly session. These quarterly international exam sessions will be arranged towards the end of month. You will be notified of the date, time and location.

You can book only one exam per exam session.

Monthly Exam Sessions:

  • First exam attempt: $350 CDN (Students in a classroom course do not have to pay this fee if they write their exam on the last day of their classroom session.)
  • Subsequent exam attempts: $350 for international fee + $250 rewrite fee = $600 CDN
  • Late cancellation of an exam session (we require 14 days notice to cancel an exam session without penalty – the exam date is not included as part of the 14 day notice period) - the fees you paid are not refundable and are not transferable to your next session.

Students must provide 4 weeks notice in order to schedule their exams. International exams are arranged towards the end of any given month.

You can book only one exam per exam session.

*CSI reserves the right to increase the exam sitting fee depending on the accessibility, availability and other factors associated with the exam centre.

 What Causes A Suspension?

If you are suspected of cheating on an exam or assignment, you will be suspended from the course while an investigation takes place. During the investigation, grades and course completion notices may not be given. You may enrol in other CSI courses pending the resolution of the investigation.

If you are found guilty of cheating, your enrolment will be terminated and you will not be able to continue in that course. However, you may re-enrol in the course at a later time, subject to any restrictions imposed by the ethics committee.
