EXAMS TO RESUME IN LIMITED LOCATIONS

Given the seriousness of the virus, CSI suspended all in-person exams in Canada and internationally effective March 16, 2020. We are working towards reopening the exam sessions—in a phased manner—based on guidelines and recommendations from public officials and availability of exam centers.

We are reopening exam sessions in June 2020 in locations that have started to lift restrictions on public gatherings. We will continue to open more locations as the situation evolves. Exam sessions will have limited seating to observe social distancing and we will implement protective measures for the safety of our students and staff.

Priority will be given to students whose exams were cancelled in March/April/May 2020. We are contacting these students individually via email to re-book their exams for June/July 2020 sessions being made available.

Students should continue to monitor this CSI COVID-19 page for more updates or initiate the exam booking process to check available sessions and locations.

We continue to monitor the situation with our exam partners and adhere to federal, provincial and territorial public health advisory guidelines to open more exam sessions and locations in the coming weeks.

We are working to reopen exam sessions—in a phased manner—based on guidelines and recommendations from public officials in each location. We will open exam sessions in locations that have started to lift restrictions on public gatherings, and will continue to open additional locations as the situation evolves.

Many of our exam centres are located at universities and colleges. These continue to remain closed. We are working with our exam partner that has testing centres in major cities in Canada where we can hold our exams.

You will be able to book an exam online. Once booked, you will receive an email confirming the exam date, time, location and specific instructions to follow on the day of the exam. Please review the information to ensure that you are well aware of procedures and expectations of you.

We will not be able to provide an exam centre in every location in which exams were available in the past. If you do not see your city or town on the list of available sites, you will have to choose the closest location or continue to monitor the exam booking site for additional sessions and locations. In order to ensure social distancing and respect limitations on the number of people that can gather in one location, we will not be able to fill the exam centres to capacity. As such, exam sessions are likely to fill up quickly. We recommend that you act promptly when the exam booking is made available.

Priority will be given to students whose exams were cancelled in March/April/May 2020. We are contacting these students via email to re-book their exams for June/July 2020 sessions.

The health and safety of our students, clients, and staff is our top priority. We are continuously monitoring the situation with our exam partners and adhering to federal, provincial and territorial public health advisory guidelines to open more exam sessions in the coming months. We will continue to communicate major updates via email and our social media channels: LinkedInFacebook and Instagram. Students should continue to monitor this CSI COVID-19 page for more updates or initiate the exam booking process to check available sessions and locations.

Many of our usual exam centres are in colleges and universities. These are currently not open. Therefore, we have secured external exam venues in major cities across Canada to administer CSI's paper-based exams as of June 2020. We are also working on opening CSI's Toronto and Montreal centres in early to mid-June 2020.

Priority will be given to students whose exams were cancelled in March/April/May 2020. We are contacting these students via email to re-book their exams for June/July 2020 sessions.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We have made significant changes to our exam processes to ensure everyone's safety. The exam room will be sanitized after every exam sitting and the staff will be wearing protective gear. We will be observing strict social distancing at every exam centre.

You will not be permitted to enter the exam centre if you fall under any of the following categories:

  • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14-days;
  • Have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14-days;
  • Are experiencing flu or cold-like symptoms; OR
  • Have returned from travel to a highly infected area in the last 14-days.

Students are required to bring the following items to the exam center. You will not be permitted to write if you do not have all of the following:

  • A medical mask or cloth face covering (you will be required to remove your mask when your identification is being verified.)
  • Valid, signed government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport.
  • A non-programmable calculator and pencil

The following will not be permitted at our exam locations:

  • Food and/or beverages (including water) are not permitted in the exam room
  • Washroom breaks are not permitted during the exam. If you need a washroom break for medical reasons, you must send CSI notice at least one week prior to your exam (medical documentation may be requested).

Remotely proctored exams are not available at this time. CSI expects to offer remote proctored exams later in the year. In addition, we are working towards offering computer-based testing in many more locations across Canada (currently offered only in Toronto and Montreal). We will provide more information on remote proctoring and additional computer-based testing locations as they become available. Until then, we recommend that you book an in-person exam at the closest available exam-centre location or continue to monitor the exam booking site for additional sessions and locations.

We are not accepting requests to write exams in remote locations at this time. We hope to open more exam test centres in the coming months based on guidelines from public health officials. Until then, we recommend that you take your exam at the nearest possible location or continue to monitor the exam booking site for additional sessions and locations.

We know that students have a time limit within which they must have taken their exams. Given the situation, we have proactively provided students with course extensions. Students whose course expired in March, April, May, June or July 2020, have automatically received an extension until October 31, 2020. Students whose courses expire in August 2020 have automatically received an extension until November 30, 2020. Please note that this extension only applies to courses that include an in-person, proctored exam. You will be notified if there are any further updates.

Yes, you will have access to study tools and all other course material until two weeks after the course expiry date or the date of passing the exam (whichever comes first).

We recommend that you to visit your student profile through MyCSI to check for course updates and the version that you need to study.

Many students must meet IIROC requirements. We worked very closely with IIROC to ensure that registrants would not be penalized by the exam suspension. IIROC recognizes the need to be flexible in light of the current pandemic. Accordingly, IIROC will be supportive of hardship exemption requests to extend course deadlines submitted by current registrants for reasons related to the current pandemic. We recommend that you visit the IIROC and MFDA COVID-19 related announcement pages regularly.
