EXAMS RESUME IN MANY LOCATIONS

Given the seriousness of the virus, CSI suspended all in-person exams in Canada and internationally effective March 16, 2020.

We are pleased to advise that we are now offering exam sessions in 30 cities across Canada and students can schedule exams for June and beyond. Due to the closure of many colleges and universities, the locations of many exam centres may have changed. Exam sessions will have limited seating to observe social distancing and we have implemented protective measures for the safety of our students and staff.

Priority has been given to students whose exams were cancelled in March/April/May 2020. We have contacted these students individually via email to re-book their exams.

We continue to monitor the situation with our exam partners and adhere to federal, provincial and territorial public health advisory guidelines to open additional sessions and locations.

You can book your exam at any time online as per the usual process. Once booked, you will receive an email confirming the exam date, time, location and specific instructions to follow on the day of the exam. Please review the information to ensure that you are well aware of procedures and expectations of you.

We have opened exam sessions—in a phased manner—based on guidelines and recommendations from public officials in each location. .

We will not be able to provide an exam centre in every location in which exams were available in the past. If you do not see your city or town on the list of available sites, you will have to choose the closest location or continue to monitor the exam booking site for additional sessions and locations. In order to ensure social distancing and respect limitations on the number of people that can gather in one location, we will not be able to fill the exam centres to capacity. As such, exam sessions are likely to fill up quickly. We recommend that you book your exam when you are ready.

The health and safety of our students, clients, and staff are our top priorities. We are continuously monitoring the situation with our exam partners and adhering to federal, provincial and territorial public health advisory guidelines to open more exam sessions in the coming months. We will continue to communicate major updates via email and our social media channels: LinkedInFacebook and Instagram. Students should continue to monitor this page for more updates or initiate the exam booking process to check available sessions and locations.

Many of our usual exam centres are in colleges and universities. These are currently not open. Therefore, we have secured external exam venues in several cities across Canada to administer CSI's paper-based exams as of June 2020. CSI's Toronto centres opened on June 8 and and CSI's Montreal centres opened on June 15. A full list of cities where we are holding exam sessions is available below.

Priority has been given to students whose exams were cancelled in March/April/May 2020. We have contacted these students via email to re-book their exams.

The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priorities. We have made significant changes to our exam processes to ensure everyone's safety. The exam rooms are sanitized after every exam sitting and the staff wear protective gear. We will be observe strict social distancing at every exam centre.

You will not be permitted to enter the exam centre if you fall under any of the following categories:

  • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14-days;
  • Have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14-days;
  • Are experiencing flu or cold-like symptoms; OR
  • Have returned from travel to a highly infected area in the last 14-days.

Students are required to bring/wear the following items to the exam center. You will not be permitted to write if you do not have all of the following:

  • A medical mask or cloth face covering to be worn throughout your examination and while you are inside the exam centre (you will only be required to remove your mask when your identification is being verified.)
  • Valid, signed government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport.
  • A non-programmable calculator and pencil

The following will not be permitted at our exam locations:

  • Food and/or beverages (including water) are not permitted in the exam room
  • Washroom breaks are not permitted during the exam. If you need a washroom break for medical reasons, you must send CSI notice at least one week prior to your exam (medical documentation may be requested).

Over the past year, we have been working with our partner, Prometric, to modernize our exam delivery formats and provide students with greater flexibility, safety and a better overall exam-taking experience. Our efforts were accelerated to provide quicker accessibility as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions. On December 8, 2020, students will have the option to take the exam via remote proctoring. Learn more.

At this time we are unable to accommodate express bookings or special sessions in the cities where we are holding exams as we are focused on adding sessions and locations for the students.

We are not accepting requests to write exams in remote locations (greater than 200km from a regular center) or outside of Canada at this time. We hope to open more exam test centres in the coming weeks. Until then, we recommend that you take your exam at the nearest possible location or continue to monitor the exam booking site for additional sessions and locations.

We understand that students have a time limit within which they must have taken their exams. Finding an exam date and location can be difficult as we observe social distancing at our exam centres. To ensure students have enough time to prepare and book for their exam, we have extended the course expiry date to January 31, 2021. Please note that this extension only applies to courses with proctored exam(s) that expire before December 31, 2020.

If you have already booked your exam, as of now, your exam is scheduled to take place as planned unless informed otherwise.

Yes, you will have access to study tools and all other course material until two weeks after the course expiry date or the date of passing the exam (whichever comes first).

Many students must meet IIROC requirements. We worked very closely with IIROC to ensure that registrants would not be penalized by the exam suspension. IIROC recognizes the need to be flexible in light of the pandemic. Accordingly, IIROC will be supportive of hardship exemption requests to extend course deadlines submitted by current registrants for reasons related to the pandemic. We recommend that you visit the IIROC COVID-19 related announcement pages regularly.
