We're here to support you.

The continued spread of Covid-19 in Canada and around the world has understandably raised concerns for you and your families. At Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), the well-being of our valued learners and employees is of the deepest concern to us. We want you to know that your safety will remain our top priority as this situation continues to evolve.

We are taking important steps to help you stay protected.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and are following the latest guidance from local, provincial and federal health authorities, including the Public Health Agency of Canada, to ensure that our practices are aligned with the latest recommendations.

In-person exams suspended.

Given the seriousness of the virus and the danger of contagion, effective March 16, 2020, CSI has suspended all in-person exams in Canada and internationally until further notice. We are working towards re-opening the exam sessions based on guidelines and recommendations from public officials, and our conversations with IIROC and other regulators. We recommend you monitor this webpage for further updates.

Regulatory requirements.

Many students must meet IIROC requirements. We worked very closely with IIROC to ensure that registrants would not be penalized by the exam suspension. IIROC recognizes the need to be flexible in light of the current pandemic.  Accordingly, IIROC will be supportive of hardship exemption requests to extent course deadlines submitted by current registrants for reasons related to the current pandemic. We will keep you posted with additional information from IIROC, the MFDA, and provincial securities regulators.

Course Deadlines and Extensions.

We know that students have a time limit within which they must have taken their exam. Given the situation, we proactively decided to extend every student whose course expiry is in March, April or May by three months automatically in order to given them the opportunity to sit their exam once we begin offering our exams. We gave the three month buffer not because we expect to halt exams for three months, but rather to allow for the backlog of exams once our exams are back online. We do not at this time know how long the COVID-19 crisis will last, so we cannot predict when exams will resume. We will continue to monitor the situation and, if needed, will extend the deadline for exams as necessary. Rest assured we will resume exams as soon as we can.
