I am enrolled in the old CSC®, how is the new CSC® different?

Can I still enrol for the old CSC®?

Yes. You can enrol in the old CSC® until the new CSC® launches. Unless you have specific commitments that prevent you from waiting, we recommend enrolling for the new CSC® instead. If you enrol in the old CSC® now, you’ll still have the option to transition to the new CSC® later. Please note: (1) any active old CSC® enrolment will be automatically extended to October 31, 2027; and (2) if you later transition to the new CSC®, any exam bookings and attempts in the old CSC® – including a successful completion of Exam 1 – will be cancelled, and you’ll be subject to the new CSC®’s completion requirements.

When can I enrol for the new CSC®?

A special pre-purchase option, including an early-bird discount, will be available one month before the new CSC® launches. Note that course access will begin only once the program officially launches.

How much is the new CSC®?

The price for the new CSC® will be confirmed at program launch.

How much time will I have to complete the new CSC®?

You will have 12 months from your enrolment date to complete the new CSC®.

Is an extension possible for the new CSC®?

Yes. A 12 month extension is possible should you need more time. More information here.

What are the requirements to complete the new CSC®?

You must: (1) complete all the modules of CSC1 and pass the CSC1 proctored final exam and (2) complete all of the CSC2 modules.

I am enrolled in the old CSC®, is there a deadline to complete it?

When the new CSC® program launches, your active enrolment in the old CSC® will automatically be extended to October 31, 2027 – no further extensions will be available beyond that date. If you’re completing the old CSC® under CIRO’s transition rules for licensing, the deadline (including any remaining transition licensing requirements) is December 31, 2026, provided you enrolled before January 1, 2026.

I am enrolled in the old CSC®, what happens if I don’t complete it by the expiry date?

When the new CSC® program launches, no further extensions for the old CSC® will be available.

If I want to transfer from the old CSC® to the new CSC®, is there a deadline by which this needs to happen?

Yes. You can transfer at no cost any time before your old CSC® enrolment expires.

I completed/will complete the old CSC® but want to earn the new Certificate. Is this possible?

Yes. If you completed/will complete the old CSC®, you can purchase and complete just the CSC2 component which together will grant you the new Certificate.

I completed/am completing the old CSC®, is it still valid to earn the CIM® designation?

Yes. Should this change in the future, we’ ll communicate a transition plan well in advance.

I completed the old CSC®, is it still valid toward the mutual fund representative license (under MFDA rules)?

Yes.

I want to complete the new CSC®, is it on the pathway to earn CIM® desigantion?

Yes.

I want to complete the new CSC®, is it valid to earn the mutual fund representative license (under MFDA rules)?

Yes. The new CSC® delivers the same learning outcomes as the old CSC®, and more.

How will the old and new CSC® be differentiated on any CSI documentation?

The old CSC® will appear as the “Canadian Securities Course” while the new CSC® will appear as the “Canadian Securities Certificate”.

Will there be physical textbooks offered? If yes is it for both CSC1 & CSC2?

No. The new CSC® is a fully digital learning experience so physical textbooks won’t be available.

If I transfer to the new CSC®, is my course expiry date reset?

Yes. A new 12-month enrolment period begins as of your transfer date.

Will both languages launch at the same time for the new CSC®?

Yes. English and French will both be available at official launch.

Will there be a bundle offer as available with the old CSC®? E.g., Videos, E-tutorials

No. There’s no separate add-on bundle. Instead, practice exams, end-of-section quizzes, and in-course checkpoints (including videos) are built directly into the new CSC® to reinforce learning.

How many hours of study are required to complete the new CSC®?

The new CSC® program (i.e., the two components – CSC1 and CSC2) will require approximately 75-100 hours to complete. Actual time will vary based on your existing knowledge and experience.

What are the benefits of the new CSC® versus the old CSC®?

The new CSC® differs from the old CSC® in several ways. It introduces a comprehensive digital experience powered by leading-edge technology to support your learning journey.. How long is the proctored final exam for the new CSC®?

The proctored final exam for the CSC1 component is 2 hours. There is no proctored final exam for the CSC2 component, rather the completion is assessed through the completion of practical skill evaluation exercises.
