What is the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice?

The Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice provides investment advisors with advanced and practical advisory knowledge—enabling them to stand out in a highly competitive financial industry. This certificate also serves as an interim certificate that puts you on the path to the Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) designation for high-net-worth wealth management and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation for discretionary investment management.

What is the path to the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice?

This certificate is also on the path to the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation.

Note: The FOFP course was decommissioned on October 12, 2022 and is no longer open for enrolment. For students currently enrolled in the FOFP, you can continue with your course work and upon completion will be granted the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice provided you meet all the specific requirements.

Important

In addition to the Investment Management Techniques (IMT®) course, individuals seeking the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice must complete one of the following: Professional Financial Planning Course (PFPC®) or Personal Financial Planner (PFP®) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designations. Please note the PFPC®, PFP® and CFP® are NOT required for the CIM® designation, only for the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice. The Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice is not required to attain the CIM® designation.

Students can also achieve the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice by completing the Canadian Securities Course (CSC®) + Professional Financial Planning Course (PFPC) + Investment Management Techniques (IMT®) course.

External Designation Recognitions are subject to CSI’s External Designation Recognition policy and fee.
