Whether you wish to embark on an investment or wealth management career, the Wealth Management Essentials (WME®) for Financial Planners course provides the foundational knowledge you need to succeed.

In addition to meeting regulatory requirements, the WME® course provides the foundation to earn more advanced certifications in investment management or wealth management. This course provides knowledge to help advisors deal with the increasingly complex demands of clients in a highly competitive environment.

This course is meant for individuals with prior financial planning education.

Please Note: As of January 1, 2026, CIRO is implementing new proficiency requirements for its Approved Persons of Investment Dealers regulated by CIRO. The new rules will include changes to the current requirement for mandatory courses offered by the CSI. Under the new requirements , WME®-FP  will continue to help learners fulfill CIRO and provincial regulatory requirements, successfully complete their examinations and register with CIRO before December 31, 2026.

What skills will you develop?

The WME® course provides advisors with a holistic approach to wealth management. This is an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills to guide your clients in different areas of financial planning, covering such topics as getting to know the client, budgeting and saving, borrowing, taxation, retirement and estate planning. Additionally, you will learn about the concepts related to investment management, asset allocation, equities and debt securities, managed products, and portfolio monitoring and performance.
