What is the Stock Transfer role?
The Stock Transfers job handles the changes in securities ownership, as part of the securities transfers/delivery department. This department may also be responsible for procedures related to dividends recording, sending certificates to be deposited with a Clearing Corporation, and transferring large amounts of securities quickly (through a rush or wire transfer) to help expedite the settlement of large dollar value trades.
What are the responsibilities of this role?
- Safekeeping of securities, as well as looking after all dividends
- Maintaining the firm’s inventory accounts
- Arranging for collateral loans when the firm has to borrow, and arranging the payoff of loans when there is excess money
- Working with transfer agents
- Applying the firm’s policies and procedures
