What is the Financial Services Representative’s role?

The Financial Services Representative’s job is to conduct needs assessments of customers resulting in either product sales or referrals to specialized sales personnel. The Financial Services Representative must be familiar with all retail banking products, including personal credit and mortgage lending, small business products and lending, personal and business bank accounts, and registered products. They must also be familiar with in-house systems, transaction processing, teller functions, and mutual fund investments and transactions. The typical career progression for the Financial Services Representative is to eventually become a Financial Advisor.

What are the responsibilities of this role?

Dealing with clients’ personal banking needs on a daily basis and making referrals to others when necessary
Accurately documenting all sales transactions
Using and contributing to the bank’s internal client referral system
Providing efficient and professional service to customers
Participating in some marketing and sales-related business development
Building productive relationships with other team members
Apply risk and due diligence policies, practices and procedures when extending credit, lending money or dealing with delinquent accounts
Handling complaints
